Samuel was diagnosed with Autism at 2 1/2 years old. He also has Sensory Processing Disorder and ADHD. He has been riding for almost a year now. He absolutely loves HORSEPOWER and his favorite day of the week is Monday, his riding day! He loves his horse Moonshine or Moonie as he calls him so much! Moonshine is so loving and patient with Samuel. Samuel is a sensory seeker so horseback riding helps with his sensory needs. Horseback riding calms Samuel so much and significantly helps with behaviors. We have been able to successfully go to a store after a riding session with no meltdowns. Riding helps Samuel focus on his schoolwork and learning to follow directions. He has made several very special friends at HORSEPOWER. Every day isn’t smooth sailing with Samuel the staff and volunteers are so compassionate, patient and encouraging to Samuel. This place is absolutely magical for what it does for these special children! Our family is so thankful for HORSEPOWER staff, volunteers, horses and donors who make it all happen!
