Over the course of the ten years I have ridden and volunteered at HorsePower, I have ridden numerous, numerous horses. People like to joke that I have ridden every horse that ever came to the barn! There are some horses I have ridden for just a few hours, and then there are the horses that I have ridden for years and have developed an incredibly special relationship with. One such horse is Trader. He is always there for me, and he tries his best to please and support me even if it might take a bit of motivation! He has a kind heart that loves all people and he is faithful to the end.
HorsePOWER is more than just a therapeutic riding center. It is a community, a family. No matter who you are, you will find acceptance, love, and compassion. Every time I work at HorsePower I see the difference it is making in people’s lives. I see the smiles on the children’s faces, the happiness in the parents’ eyes, and the laughter of the volunteers and staff. It is a place where a horse chooses you and receives you just as you are. It is truly amazing what a little love and the power of a horse can do.
