Jan
is the founder and Executive Director of HORSEPOWER. Jan owned
and operated an accounting practice in Dallas, Texas for fifteen years
as well as a horse boarding facility for five years. Jan is a level
two certified riding instructor by the Association for Horsemanship
Safety and Education and a Registered Riding Instructor by the North
American Riding for the Handicapped Association. |

Tim
joined HORSEPOWER as a volunteer 7 years ago and joined the
staff full-time in July of 2002; He is retired from Guilford County
schools where he was a teacher and a coach. In the last 14 years he
served as a principal at McIver Education Center where he worked with
special needs students ages 3 to 22. Tim was born and raised in Pennsylvania,
received his BS from Appalachian State University and his masters
at North Carolina A&T State University. He has two sons Chris,
Josh, 2 step children Mady, Scott and 4 grandchildren. |

Donna
joined HORSEPOWER in April 2003. She became interested in horses
back in high school and has been working in the horse business,
in some form, since then. Whether it was in Virginia, Arkansas, Texas,
or North Carolina Ms. Reece was a member of any and all horse organizations.
She was an AQHA youth director in Virginia and a leader in the 4H.
She worked at a thoroughbred race horse center and from 1991 to 1996
she trained and showed horses as a business, then in 1996 she hauled
horses coast to coast for 7 years until finding a home at HORSEPOWER.
She is a NARHA registered instructor. |

Kevin
was HORSEPOWERs first volunteer in 1995. He volunteered through 1998
when HORSEPOWER came to Colfax. He lost contact with us for several
years until 2007 when he came back to volunteer. He joined HORSEPOWER
as a full time staff member in May of 2009. He is a NARHA Registered
Instructor. Kevin and his dog Harlee live in Brown Summit. |

Jess
joined HORSEPOWER in January 2008 as the volunteer coordinator.
She is a graduate from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro,
with a Bachelor of Environmental Science in Human Development and
Family Studies. She started a three hundred hour internship with HORSEPOWER
in May 2007 and completed it in October of 2007. Jess and her dog
Mable live in Greensboro. She is a NARHA registered instructor |

Emily Mann- Emily first joined HORSEPOWER in 1994 as a volunteer.
She graduated from East Carolina University after studying recreational
therapy and sign language. In 2003 she was volunteer coordinator for
HORSEPOWER, but returned to a volunteer position when she wanted
to devote more time to starting a family. She is a NARHA certified
instructor and lives in Colfax with her husband and two young children. |

Karesa joined HORSEPOWER in January 2009. A dedicated
United States Pony Club judge, instructor, and rider from Maryland,
Karesa continues to spread her experiences. Her educational background
is in sports medicine and athletic training. She is a NARHA registered
instructor. Karesa lives with her dogs, Tokie and Lacey, who often
help with weekend chores around the farm. |

Jean joined HORSEPOWER in August 2008 as a volunteer.
Her love for children and horses made it a perfect fit for her. She
was a flight attendant with Piedmont and USAIRWAYS for over 20 years
and a graduate of Johnson & Wales Culinary School in Charleston,
S.C. She is currently a business owner with her husband Eric and a
mother of two children, Haley and Walker. They have a dog named Harley.
She is a NARHA registered instructor.

Chris joined HORSEPOWER
in 1996. She became a NARHA registered Instructor in 2001.
Chris was awarded the State of NC
Governors Certificate of Appreciation in 1998, she was nominated as
NARHA’s Volunteer of the year in the southeast region, and the
Received the NC award for Outstanding Volunteer Service in 2004. Chris
is a member of HORSEPOWER’s Board of Directors. She
lives in Greensboro with her husband of 35 years. They have one grown
son.

Spencer Conover ,
Director of Public Relations and

Joining HORSEPOWER
in July 2010, Spencer Conover is the newest addition to the HORSEPOWER
staff. A 2010 graduate of
Hampden-Sydney College, Spencer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign
Affairs with minors in Rhetoric and Public Service. During college,
Spencer was involved in student government and community service
organizations; he also enjoyed writing for the school newspaper and
planning major events for the student body. As a young’n, Spencer
loved riding horses every summer at camp, and he even reached the
‘highly acclaimed’ status of a “Rough Rider” at Camp Carolina! Spencer
is excited to be a part of the mission at HORSEPOWER!
