HORSEPOWER’s Mane Event to be held in High Point

COLFAX, NC (January 12, 2007) – HORSEPOWER, a premiere equine therapy center, will host its 11th annual Gala & Silent Auction Saturday, February 10, from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. at Center Point, 401 S. Hamilton in High Point. Proceeds from this year’s “Mane Event” will provide reduced fees and scholarships for over 100 children and adults with disabilities who participate in the program each week.

Executive Director Jan Clifford said that auction items range “from denim to diamonds,” including furniture, sculptures and art, household items and gift certificates for goods and services. “The community has been exceptionally generous to us this year, making it the best yet when it comes to the donated items for the auction,” Clifford said. “The Mane Event is out largest fundraiser of the year, and it makes all the difference in providing affordable services to many students whose families are already strapped with enormous medical bills.”

The ticket price for the Mane Event is $40 per person for early registration and $50 at the door. The admission fee includes entry to the event, appetizers, drinks and musical entertainment by Michael Ken. Attire for the evening is dressy western or cocktail. HORSEPOWER Therapeutic Learning Center is a premiere accredited center of the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA.) The center provides therapeutic horseback riding for children and adults ages three and up with a wide range of disabilities. HORSEPOWER has sixteen therapy horses and requires nearly 200 volunteers per week to keep the program running. The center is located on the grounds of the Piedmont Saddle Club, four miles north of the PTI airport on Highway 68.
